# Find your way around a workspace

> The sections and their groups, folding the sidebar, the header's network, payments and agent status, and the command palette's shortcuts.

Every workspace page has the same frame: the sections on the left, and a header across the top that says where you are and what state the workspace is in. This guide is a map of it.

## The sections

The sidebar lists the workspace's sections in groups:

- At the top, with no heading: **Treasury**, where a workspace opens, and **Approvals**, where you decide what the agent would not pay on its own.
- **Operations**: **Bills & receivables**, the bills you pay and the invoices your customers pay you; **Counterparties**; **Contractors**.
- **Controls**: **Compliance** and **Audit log**.
- **Analytics**: **Insights** and **Report**.
- **Workspace**: **Members** and **Settings**.

Above them, the workspace switcher names the workspace, whether it is **Live**, a **Sandbox** or **Not live yet**, its network and your role. Open it to move to another workspace, landing on the same section, or to create one.

Your role is one of owner, admin, approver, accountant or viewer, set on **Members** by an owner or admin; the invitation form says what each may do. Someone in several workspaces, such as an outside accountant, sees what needs attention across all of them in the **Accountant console**: see [Work across clients as an accountant](https://www.vestiarion.xyz/docs/guides/accountants).

## Fold the sidebar

On a screen 1024 pixels wide or more, the first button in the header, **Collapse sidebar**, folds the sidebar to a column of icons and gives the page the room. Hover over an icon, or move to it with the keyboard, to see its name. **Expand sidebar** unfolds it. The `[` key does the same from anywhere except a field you are typing in.

Your browser remembers the choice for the next page and the next visit, in one cookie described on the [privacy page](https://www.vestiarion.xyz/privacy). On a phone the sections are in the menu at the top left instead.

## The header

From the left, the header names the workspace and the section you are in; the workspace's name takes you back to **Treasury**. On a page inside a section it then names that page: **Commissions**, or a deal's title, a project's name or the bill or milestone a payment's evidence is about, and the section's name takes you back to the section. On the right it says when the agent's last cycle ran, or "The agent is working · *n* s" while one runs, and three chips:

- **The network**: **Arc testnet**, or **Arc mainnet** in blue, where payments move real USDC.
- **What happens to payments**, the first that holds: **Payments off** while the platform has switched payments off for every workspace; **Payments held** when nothing can be paid from this workspace, for example a workspace on Arc mainnet that is not live yet; **Shadow mode** when each payment waits for a person to agree with the agent; **Payments simulated** in a sandbox that pays through no wallet yet; **Payments live** otherwise, in blue on Arc mainnet.
- **The agent**: **Agent on**, **Agent paused**, or **Agent stopped** while payments are off or held, when the agent runs no cycle.

A fact that could not be read is said as such, never as its usual value.

Every page that says what a payment does uses the same words, worked out from the same facts: Settings (**Go live** and **Shadow mode**), the console's balance and shadow mode summary, **Approve and pay** and **Agree and pay**, **Pay a freelancer**, a payee's page and email, the report and its shared link, and `GET /api/v1/status`. A sandbox that pays through a Circle account says its payments are live, not simulated; a live workspace whose payments are switched off or held never says it is paying; and a payee paid from a sandbox that simulates is told so.

Choose the chips to open **Workspace status**, which says each of them in a sentence, with the reserve, screening and the clock:

![Three chips: Arc testnet, Shadow mode, Agent on. Under them the Workspace status panel lists Network, Arc testnet; Payments, Live, after your verdict; Shadow mode, On; Agent, On; Reserve, Simulated; Screening, Live; and Clock, Wall clock, each with a sentence.](https://www.vestiarion.xyz/docs/guides/workspace-status.png)

*A live workspace on Arc testnet in shadow mode: each payment the agent decides waits for a person's verdict.*

What each row can say, as the panel words it:

| Row | Values | What it means |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Network | Arc testnet, Arc mainnet | Arc testnet is Arc's public test network, with test USDC; on Arc mainnet USDC is real money. |
| Payments | Live, Simulated, Live after your verdict, Simulated after your verdict, Held, Off | Live sends approved payments in USDC on the workspace's network. Simulated records them and sends nothing on chain. After your verdict means shadow mode: nothing is paid until a person agrees. Held means nothing can be paid from this workspace right now; Off means payments are switched off for every workspace. |
| Shadow mode | On, Off | On: each decision waits for a person's verdict. Off: the agent pays what passes its checks, and anything else waits in Approvals. |
| Agent | On, Paused, Stopped | On: it decides each bill within a minute of it arriving, within its limits. Stopped: payments are off or held, so it does not run. |
| Reserve | Live, Simulated, Held | Whether the USYC reserve is held on chain, or simulated. Shown on Arc testnet only. |
| Screening | Live, Bundled list, No service | Live screens each counterparty against a screening service when it is added, and again from time to time. Bundled list uses a short list built into the app. |
| Clock | Wall clock, or Day *n* | Wall clock: the agent works on today's date. Day *n* is a demo clock that moves one day forward each run. |

A row whose fact could not be read says so, such as "Could not be read" or "Not known yet", never its usual value. While whether payments are switched on, or whether shadow mode is on, cannot be read, nothing is paid until it can.

A pause shows twice: the chip says **Agent paused**, and a box under the header says since when, by whom and why. A paused agent decides and pays nothing by itself, and people can still pay from Approvals.

## Search and shortcuts

Press Ctrl K, or ⌘K on a Mac, or choose **Search…** in the sidebar, to open the command palette. Type part of a section's name, or a word such as "bills" or "ledger", and press Enter. Its **Shortcuts** go to a form or a setting directly: **Add a bill**, **Add a counterparty**, **Agent spending limit**, **Shadow mode** on Arc testnet and, until the workspace is live, **Go live**. On a wide screen it also offers **Collapse sidebar** or **Expand sidebar**. Nothing in the palette pays or changes anything by itself: each shortcut opens the page, where its own buttons and your role decide what you can do.
